To describe Faye and Ron as tense was an understatement. The hunt for a home of their own began months ago when they received the happy news that a baby was on the way. As much as they loved their condo, it wasn’t where they wanted to raise a child.
Searching for the perfect home would be so simple if only every home were available for sale! Then, they could just pick the neighborhood, home style, fixtures and décor that suited their tastes, pay the price and move in to their new home.
Alas, searching for a home is a little more complicated than that, since not only is every home not an item on the shelf for you to consider, but if you’ve read anything about our current real estate market you’ll know that inventories everywhere are tight!
Once, that might have been enough. Unfortunately, outright war breaks out as price offers get down and dirty over some homes for sale. One great house and 8 determined buyers is not a recipe for smooth peaceful negotiations.
Buyers and their harried agents are scrambling for solutions!
Even then, the likelihood of the search taking months and encompassing disappointments along the way should be expected.
Faye and Ron met with a lender before they even contacted an agent to begin looking at homes. They went through the application process, and were so relieved when the letter of mortgage approval was provided.
There is the option of building a brand new home of course, provided you’ve the time, land, financing and patience. And home builders are nailing up houses as fast as they can, but nowhere near fast enough to meet demand, and not always the style buyers are clamoring to purchase.
For Faye and Ron, since they were working within the time limits set by nature, they decided building wasn’t their best choice.
Growing more frustrated by the day, they began to wonder if their home purchase hopes should be abandoned. Or maybe they needed to settle for something less than what they wanted or even find a way to pay more than they were really comfortable paying!
And then it happened! Just when they were ready to give up and begin remodeling their condo, the alert sound of a new text arrived and with it renewed hope! The agent they’d been working with had found a solution that was within their price range, needed minimal updating and hadn’t yet gone officially up for sale, minimizing exposure to other potential buyers.
Tears actually sprang to Faye’s eyes as they signed the offer to purchase what she knew in her heart was the perfect house for her family. Five long and stressful months were coming to a close, and the packing and moving would begin in days. There was even time to decorate the nursery before the little one made an appearance!
