1. Adult Spanish – Mini Session

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Come exercise your brain and body by learning Spanish the fun way! We use the latest language technique such as TPR (total physical response) which uses the entire body to learn words and concepts and TPRS (engaging and relevant story telling). We will explore cultures such as Spain, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and other Spanish-speaking countries. These are high-engagement, low-stress classes that produce results.

2. Memoir Writing I

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Study Memoir Writing with the master, Carolyn Evans Campbell. Memoir represents a slice of life in which authors reflect upon intimate issues, family stories, specific events or personal relationships. It is a glimpse of the past, vividly recreated through creative writing.

3. Aqua Zumba

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This exhilarating, low-impact class is designed to improve body tone, balance and flexibility. Exercises are choreographed to music.

4. Evening Yoga Flow

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A relaxing evening yoga class that focuses on breathing combined with structured poses, moves and stretching. You’ll rejuvenate and realign your body to create a sense of harmony, balance and fluidity. This format strengthens your muscles and joints while increasing flexibility and range of movement to protect against injury. This challenging class is attainable for all!

5. Tai Chi Chuan

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Tai Chi Chuan is a Taoist internal martial art. It is learned within an ancient system of fluid, rounded, and balanced movements. Practiced daily, Tai Chi will promote spiritual, emotional, and physical equilibrium. Beginners: The whole form will be taught.

6. CPR/AED

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The American Heart Association (AHA), Heartsaver CPR/AED course is designed to teach people the basic skills of CPR and how to operate an AED. Students will receive instruction in the following areas:

·       Scene assessment/safety

·       Activating EMS

·       CPR for adults, children, and infants

·       AED (Automated External Defibrillation), proven lifesaving technology

·       Foreign body airway obstruction

·       Recognition of signs and symptoms of: heart attack, stroke, choking and sudden cardiac arrest

7. Color and Water Media

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Stephen Quiller will serve as the juror in the 44th annual Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition to be held at the Center for the Arts Evergreen. Stephen's paintings have been on covers and the subjects of articles in many leading art magazines. He has served as a juror for most of the regional and international water media exhibitions and conducts a limited number of national and international seminars annually. Nature, color and light are his inspiration.

8. Whirlwind Gourdsket Vessel

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A Gourdsket is created when you combine two ancient materials and techniques into one beautiful, contemporary art form. You begin with an ancient vessel called “Lagenaria,” (a hard-shelled gourd), then add on pine needles and waxed linen using the 9,000-year-old technique of coiling. Learn about the history behind the art form, how to find and prepare natural materials and how to use their natural marking to accentuate design.

9. Tennis Class

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Class sizes generally range from 4-8 participants per instructor, so players can receive focused attention at every class. All participants should bring a racquet and water to every practice and one can of new tennis balls to the first practice.

10. Intro to Outdoor Climbing

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Experience outdoor rock climbing on ropes at some of the best areas the Front Range has to offer. During this camp you will learn the techniques needed to climb outdoors as well as how to be a safe and responsible member of the outdoor community. Weather permitting.

11. Basic Beginner Belly Dance

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Come join us for this fun way to exercise! You will learn posture, isolation movements and range of motion for each part of the body. This class will give you a basic belly dance vocabulary to build upon. All ages, sizes and shapes are welcome!

12. Stand Up Paddleboard Lessons

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), or “Hoe he’e nalu,” is an emerging global sport with a Hawaiian heritage. It gives participants a strong core workout, can be mastered in less than an hour, and is a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors in Evergreen against the serene mountain backdrop.

EPRD offers hourly SUP rentals and private/semi-private lessons at Evergreen Lake and SUP Yoga and fitness classes at Buchanan Ponds.
