The summer is packed full with events, concerts & more, so to make the most out of your summer, start making a list now of everything you want to put on your summer calendar! Here's our guide of some of the top events of the season around the state!
Music & Concert Series
There are so many music festivals and concerts happening throughout the entire summer season! Where to even begin?!
Of course we have to start with Red Rocks! Red Rocks is a Colorado staple for music & concerts in this world renowned outdoor amphitheater. AND, did we mention they do movies, too? If music ins't your thing, you can still check out some great movies this summer at their Film on the Rocks series.
Another local favorite...Fiddler's Green is another great spot on the south end of the Metro area that will host a full schedule of summer concerts at the outdoor amphitheater.
On certain Sundays, the city of Denver hosts a free concert at City Park (rain or shine) featuring a number of great local bands! Bonus activities can also include picnics, barbecuing, libations, and friendly game or two of bags, volleyball, and more.
Who ever said concerts and theme parks don't go together? Another great summer attraction are the several concerts featured at the local theme & water park center. If you're a season pass holder there's free admission to the shows. Oh, and did we mention they also have their own "dive-in" movie series, too?
In addition to the on-going events around the state, there are a few events & festivals you won't want to miss out on!
In it's 43rd year, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival is jam packed with lots of great music, food & fun celebrating the beginning of the summer solstice by these "Festivarians" amidst the beautiful San Juan Mountains backdrop.
If big name bands aren't your thing, check out the Golden Music Festival for some local talent & flavor! And as an added bonus - the music festival helps support the Golden History Museum!
Featuring only Colorado talent - this three day Festival takes over the Downtown Fort Collins blocks and is packed with concerts, food & drink.
Held each year on Labor Day weekend, Taste of Colorado features over 50 Colorado restaurants with samplings from some of the best cuisine around the state!
The Stampede, in it's 95th year features everything western! From the kick-off parade, concerts, carnivals, demo derby and the main event - the rodeo - there's something for everyone at the annual event held during the weeklong event!
This outdoor block party takes over RiNo for two days, featuring great music from well-known artists - headliners include Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Courtney Barnett. And as if one event wasn't enough, they're taking the show on the road with additional events scheduled in Portland, Atlanta & Philadelphia later in the year.
The Colorado Renaissance Festival is ongoing throughout the summer, but is definitely worth a trip down south to Larkspur for some good old fashioned jousting, art, music and entertainment. AND - don't forget you can pick up discounted tickets at any Kings Soopers location!
The annual event features something for everyone! Featured at the state fairgrounds complex in Pueblo, there's concerts, food, a rodeo, livestock judging and even a circus!
Denver Independence Day Celebration
One of the biggest celebrations of the summer is the July 4th, Independence day holiday. While each local municipality will likely have some fireworks and celebrations of their own (be sure to check your local city's event calendar!) it's hard not to mention the capital city's celebrations in Denver. From fireworks to concerts, parades and more...the city is basically one big festival on July 4th.
Get your geek on at this massive regional event for all things nerdy! This three day event takes over the Denver Convention Center downtown with fans dressing up as their favorite characters to peruse the booths, interview, food & more!
Not into a long weekend drive to see the main attractions? There's plenty of great goings-on in your local hood, too! Here are a few links to the municipality events across the Front Range!
